Can someone clue me in on whats so good about airsoft?

why not get a .22 pistol or something?

ammo is cheaper than that gas you gotta buy (well.. how long does a can of the gas last?)

I guess you'd need a liscence though. that could be a problem for the young'uns.

Green gas = HFC134a. :)

Uh, I thought it was duster gas = HFC134a and green gas = HFC22
Like it matters, though. My bottle of gas is labelled "green gas" and that's all I use. :)

Not a whole lot is different, unless you don't like the idea of suiting up with a bunch of .22s and blasting your friends. Of course, there's the legal issue, too.

So, basically, in case you didn't know...airsoft is a more realistic version of paintball. Played with mainly the same rules. You get shot, you call yourself out and leave the field until the next round starts.

Well, you can only play a military simulation game with .22 pistols until you run out of living people, whereas with airsoft guns you can play another game when everyone's "dead." Kind of appealing to me, that replayability factor ;)

Not...quite. Duster = green gas = HFC134a, and TOP/Toy Jack gas = HFC22.

Don't go by labels. Both the bottles of my HFC134a and HFC22 from Airsoft Atlanta are labeled "Green Gas," but are obviously quite different.

OH! okay.. thanks for clearing that up.

i thought they were just pimped out pellet guns so the kiddies could flaunt their "desert eagle .50 cal" (aka .177 pellet gun in this case..). (.177 right? i dont use pellet guns..)

now that its a game it makes a perfect sense:)

meh...I'm too busy shooting people with my G3 SBS custom to worry about what gas is in the DE strapped to my hip....or the other DE strapped to my leg. :) The gas I use is really only in an emergency, unless we're playing a pistols only game, which is quite fun with dualie Desert Eagles. :)

Airsoft guns use 6mm plastic bbs, and electric/full auto gas guns shoot around 800 BBs a minute........:Q

LMAO!!!! I like!!!!

I can't claim that as my own quote, unfortunately. It was from a post long ago on airsoftzone.com forums that my roomate uses all the time to describe airsoft to ignorant people. I like it too :)

My KJW USP with metal tactical slide professionally installed was only $95..so even if I bought a brand new magazine for it, I'd still come out ahead :)

WolverineTactical says they have o-rings for $1 - I've been to their shop before..I'm probably going to get some o-rings from them. The magazine doesn't have all the parts, though - I need the entire BB feeding system (spring, guide, etc). Any idea where I can get it?

1100 with the m11 ingram my buddy just bought, but it goes through the 50 round clip in less than three seconds. You should see the silencer he got. Full metal, longer than the gun itself. Sweeet  Worthless gun in combat, but cool to play with.

Sounds cool. I have been thinking about getting a MC51, adding a lower barrel, full stock w/more powerful battery, and maybe some metal parts in the future if availible. It would most likely look like the HK51, a limited TM gun and now a RedWolf custom, only cheaper. ;)

Also, I'd make sure you have TOP gas. Green gas is pethetic compared to TOP in my Deagle. It also makes it an uberph33rd gun with TOP gas once a couple people get shot with it. ;)

I wouldn't exactly say USELESS. :) I have one and it was pretty nice to play with, especially with the stock pulled out and on my shoulder. It's ROF IS insane, though, but that makes it a necessity to buy at least another mag which I haven't done yet. :( Also, what silencer did he get? Tanio Koba? I hear the TK will actually silence the gun and reduce it from a "CLACK CLACK CLACK" to a "thup thup thup". :Q :D

No clue where to get it - I checked through the links to online stores that I have, but souldn't find anything in a very cursory search. Sorry  I will tell my roommate about the o-rings from WolverineTactical, though.

Maul -
I played with a guy this summer that had an HK51 custom - he said he loved it and would never buy another gun. Very sweet looking.
As soon as I run out of the green gas I have I'll try the top gas, and maybe even pick up a bottle of red gas if I can be assured the KWC DE can handle it. As for the silencer brand, I didn't ask about it, but I remember that it did silence the gun quite a bit. It's been a few months since he's played with it, though, since he uses his upgraded AK47 mainly and doesn't bring the mac11 to most games.

My SBS has the SD barrel kit, plus the SG/1 full stock, tight bore barrel and spring upgrade. Supposedly it shoots at 350 fps, but I've only ever clocked it as high as 315, which is fine, especially for those fields with a 350 fps limit :frown: When I used my first gun anywhere but our home field, I was only allowed to use it on semi-auto - I had a G3 SG/1 upgraded by DEN Trinity to 450 fps. The thing wouldn't shoot straight, and sniping was not good for me - too impatient ;) Traded it on airsoftzone arms deals for the SBS :)

Wow I missed a lot of conversation last night when I went to sleep!

LordMaul: Are you sure that green gas=134a and not green gas =HFC22. I have seen websites selling green gas and 134a as seperate products, and everyone on airsoftzone.com says that 134a = duster, green gas is more powerful.

I still dont know what to use.
Duster is too weak.
134a is too expensive.
Green gas might be too powerful.

Ok everyone I was reading through www.redwolfairsoft.com's review of the TM M9 tactical master, and I noticed that they mentioned that they performed a very simple upgrade on the hammer spring to give some extra power (like a 0.3J boost they said). Has anyone done this or know anything about it? Are there any disadvantages to it such as increase in durability? Do I have to upgrade any other parts also so as not to break the gun? Any info on this would help me. Thanks
