guys, as you know, the sonata has atec with holes punched in it on the side, this sorta defeats the purpose of an air filter. what is the best way to patch it to make sure its airtight? should i use clear scotch tape or will the heat from inside of the case cause it to fail?

I don't think the airholes are doing much for cooling... I covered mine up with black electrical tape and never noticed a heat problem.

depends on how you run the wires. it's pretty cramped, IMO, but you could make it work.

I don't think there's enough heat to melt the glue on the scotch tape or anything like that.. that'll be the most practical solution IMO.

Try some Brownbread (like Dynamat only it doesn't smell like crap and is cheaper) or Acoustipack which should serve to absorb some vibrations as well as block the punch holes :)

just take a piece of plexi and glue it on on the inside of the case

alternativly, you could orrient your fans so that you have slightly more CFM flowwing in than out, this will make your case have possitive pressure and still be clean. Hot air will then blow out of these holes insead of being sucked in.

Good idea.

If you don't want to do this (I run more exhaust on my system, personally) then use duct tape. It's inside so you won't see it and you know it'll hold up. :)

I took a foam piece from a motherboard box and cut in in half, taped it over the holes, works nicely.

Plastic-wrap works and that way my blue led still illuminates the Antec :).

EDIT: i just redid mine using clear packing tape (the 2 inch wide kind), only took one piece and it's really neet.

Plastic wrap is also a good idea I've used before. You can get Reynolds plastic wrap in colors to match your lighting scheme... Use multiple layers to darken the color.

In my opinion the tape alone is a crappy idea. I did that at first, and very quickly the outside of the case by those holes got dirty, dusty, full of pet hair, etc. Because all you're doing is exposing the sticky side and waiting for it to start collecting crap. It looked OK, and then a week later it was fuzzy. Bleh.

The plexi idea would be best, it's not sticky and you could still have the wording light up if you have an illuminated case. Right now I've got black foam as well, and it's just taped around the edges, figured I'd do it better next time I opened it up for part swapping.

depends. if your case has negative pressure, sealing the holes will only suck air through other cracks/drives... leaving dust in places where u don't want it. from what i know...the sonata's front fan doesn't do that much, so u likely will just dust up your drives:p
