Airports deserted...

Last week, I flew to New York on American Airlines (on a 757 no less) to see some family...

The airport was almost deserted, there was more security there than there were passangers... I think I saw about 5 people in the airport who were actually going somewhere... 9 people on our flight, we all got bumped up into first class so they didn't have to take a full crew...

The airline people were really nice, the security didn't bother me of course, I'm white, but I did see several people of color being questioned (and I think that is wrong, racism is bad no matter the reason)...

More people need to start flying again, the airlines cannot keep flying airplanes with 9 people on them...

Nope, not in the least... They cancelled the fight before it and behind it, put everyone on the single flight, and put us all in first class... I asked the lady at the gate why they flew at all, and she said that they had to do some flights because cargo was on the plane, like US Mail and other perishable items...

Flying 1st class was fun... I don't get to do it often, so it was a treat... 🙂 Everyone introduced themselves when we got on the plane... We all had a fun flight, just talking about stuff, who had family in NYC, where we were, stuff like that...

Yep, normally they only carry handguns...

This week they have AR-15 Carbine rifles... They are going to be replaced soon by the Texas National Guard...

Gotta fly south this week on business. Sure hope it's as uncrowded as your case. In other places, ppl are leaving for the airport 5 hours early just to make it through security. I'll be early, just in case.
 
My dad has taken about 7-10 flights in the last 2 weeks. A lot of security he says. He doesn't mind the flying so much, it's the waiting in the terminal for 2-3 hours at either end that is tiring. He's a patient person though.

Well, part of the reason it was probably empty, it was Tuesday at about 11am... 🙂
