"Airport security in America is broken."

"The public already has plenty of contempt for the TSA and DHS is deluding itself to believe otherwise. "

-- Kip Hawley, former TSA Director

How long before this guy ends up on the no fly list?

Uno

Yeah, big problem with denialism in politics.

"Yes Mr. President, the war is going very well."
"Yes Mr. President, the TSA is doing a great job of making our airports safer."
"There are no economic problems that the free market can't fix."

It afflicts politicians of all parties and at all levels. This is just one small example.

I suspect it won't be long before some suicide bomber notices that he could get hundreds of helpless people at once stuck in an airport security line at a major airport on a big holiday.

I'm glad I never have to fly in the states, and probably never will have to.

What makes me laugh is how they selectively ban items that could be used as a weapon, but really ANY item could. Heck, even the life jacket they put under the seat, or the provided earphones could be used to strangle someone.

And snow globes? Really? What are you going to do with that, smash it over someone's head? Throw it at someone? lol. "Open that pilot's door NOW or I'll smash your face in with THIS. Merry Christmas!"

Snow globes fall under banning liquids. Apparently every liquid is potentially a liquid explosive in disguise.

Napolitano is a moron and really needs to go. Honestly her and Attorney General Holder are two reasons I might vote for Romney.

man that would suck. Then they would put scanner outside airports. When those got hit, it would be on the freeway before the airport and after that at our front doors.

I'll be honest, I've always wondered about this.

Not only that but they would effectively shut that part of the airport down for quite a while. A semi-coordinated attack, but one that anyone here could probably think up in 10 minutes, could potentially shut down one of the nations hub airports for months.

That would be far more effective at achieving the terrorists goals than simply blowing a plane up in flight. You have the "fear", a potentially much larger body count, don't have the risk of getting caught in security, and the economic fubar that shutting down O'hare for a month or longer as they complete investigations, recover body parts, and rebuild the security area. As far as using planes as missiles, we have already solved that problem with the clever use of reinforced doors and a lock.

I am seriously just waiting for it. A dude, a carry-on, some explosives, no security to that point, and hundreds if not thousands of completely captive people packed like sardines.

It will also nullify airport security forever after.

I can totally see it happen. It seems like a brilliant terrorist plot and would be easy to execute.

Of course, now because we're talking about it we're probably automatically added to the do not fly list.
