When you go to pick someone up from an airport (O'hare chicago), where do you wait in your car? Is it in front of the terminal? Anyone picked someone up before?

You usually can't wait. There is a drive-up drop off and pick-up zone though. Just have to time it correctly.

even if you do time it correctly, its going to take 10 seconds to find the guy, another 10 to say hi and exchange greetings, and probably at LEAST a MINUTE to put all the damn luggage in the trunk and get in before you drive off.

dont be such an ignorant, and lazy fvck and go into the parking garage and pick up your guy. the way the garages/lots are is that if you are under 10/15 minutes (or at some places the first hour) is free of charge, the reason being because too many inconsiderate people like you block traffic for other people trying to get through, or PARK IN THE GARAGE LIKE A CONSIDERATE PERSON, and block mass transit such as buses, and courtesy vans which might have a hard time fitting through when youre parked on the curb.

Don't listen to this guy and just keep going in circles until you see your pick-up.

if you go during off hours (late at night, etc) they are more laid back about letting you camp the exits. if you go during the usual hours, they are pretty strict about making you circle like a vulture.

i guess youve never been behind a guy whos asleep at the wheel when the light turns green and causes everyone on the street to miss the green light.

either way, it will still take like a minute and a half in order to pick him up, obstructing traffic, because he didnt want to park in the garage like a normal person.

o'hare is set up so the 2 right most lanes are pick up and the 2 left most lanes are through lanes. doesn't always work like that, but it's pretty decent.

Park in the garage, go in the terminal, meet him/her when they exit the security area. Easier to find and much more considerate. O'Hare is also bleh to deal with.

Take a yellow car and park in the taxi stand, and tell your friend you're with the taxis, in the yellow car.

This way you can also charge him $30 for the ride home.

There's a park across the street from our airport. When I go to pick up my friend I just wait there until he calls me to say he's standing outside, and then drive up to get him.

Consider using the "Kiss & Fly" area.

The returning passenger takes the shuttle train to the remote lot, takes the escalator to ground level (on the North side), walks ~30 feet to the waiting car. No traffic hassle, no endless looping, no cop screaming at you to "GO GO GO !"

Just follow the signs to "Remote Parking" (might be remote parking, lot "E"). Immediately to the North of the main entrance to Lot E, there's an entrance to the Kiss & Fly (there's a sign for that too).

It's a little more hassle for the returning passenger, but it's WAAAAAAAAAAAAAY better for the person picking them up .

Even better--pick them up in front of the drop off for Departing Passengers, right in front of the terminal. If they're on United (I know it's a big hub for them) they can pick up their bags, and go upstairs to the Luftansa drop off point--it's the very first airline drop off point, and easy for both people to find.

At least, that worked well for me about three weeks ago.

Edit: This is specifically referring to O'Hare, if it didn't make sense before.

Hey, why even have pickup/dropoff areas. Just eliminate them all together. Just make O'hare one big fvcking parking garage. That way everyone can waste 20-30 min. parking and waiting instead of just driving by and wasting 1 min. of your time. That way you can get back to ATOT quicker and make more idiotic posts.

I work at O'hare and rarely have any sort of problems with the traffic. As long as you stay on the outer driveway, traffic moves along fine. The inner lanes are for pickup/dropoff. Use them. Thats what they're there for.
