Yeah...thanks...I totally didn't notice the part where it explains it......

I think I worded my response badly. If the image that is shown on airport scanners are simple inverts of the outsides of naked bodies...how does that give them a look to inside the body?

I meant its obviously an invert and not an X-ray.

They are not trying to look inside the body they are trying to see what is underneath your clothing.

I would really like to know how this gets around child porn laws. Grandma gets hassled for taking a picture of her grandkids playing in the tub and gets insanely hassled by the cops, girl takes a picture of herself and sends it to boyfriend and gets charged with manufacturing and distributing child porn, guy clicks the wrong link and gets hassled, etc... Yet this is ok?

The government is cool with themselves doing it. Nobody else. It's like stealing.

I thought they were setup so that the scans are all looked at by computer and only the possible suspect ones ever made their way to a real human?

either way, doesn't really bother me.

the gov will fuck this up just like most everything else they touch. screw the scanners and just let the private citizens in the air deal w/ the problem, which is how the last couple issues were handled, and they were handled successfully, and give the people a "tax break" on airline tickets for "security detail in flight"

no airport scanner or employee is going to have the desire/drive/adrenaline/desire to live that a person in flight is going to have when they know the outcome is death. the only reasons hijackings use to work was because the desire to keep the passengers alive on the plane - well when you know you are going to die if you don't eliminate X, then your primal instincts will take care of you. w/ some people they will shit themselves, others will cry, but others and all that is needed is a small few will fight till the death and that is what has happend.

these terrorist claim they love to die more than we love to live, but when you are all going to die then it is a even playing field and a 50-150:1 ratio is not so good for would be hijackers anymore.

but, our gov, in its "infinite wisdom" will blow a couple billion $$$ on these scanners and the terrorist will move on to bombing other shit and you and i will have to wait 30mins in line, getting examined, probed, patted down, sniffed by a dog, etc (a more thorough exam than a basic doc visit) because of stuff that happend in the past. plus this technology doesn't go below the surface so i see women w/ tampon bombs being the new rage for the terrorists if they so choose.

And.. the first case of abuse.
http://www.hindustantimes.com/Shah-...printouts-at-Heathrow/H1-Article1-505859.aspx

Cliffs: Indian movie star goes through body scanner at Heathrow Airport in London. Comes out of the body scanners, nervous and expressing it could be embarrassing.. Later he finds someone printed out the images of him. Some girls came up to him and showed him the pictures.. he autographed the pictures for them.
Those employees should be fired and charged. This is of course EXACTLY what some said would happen.

but, but, but, but, they told us the images weren't accessible other than to the monitor and are not stored, let alone be printed....

This whole program is idiotic. Those people who want to do damage to this country will find a way to do so regardless of the retarded technology we waste our money on. Think about it this way. Let's just say we locked down airplanes; that there was no way to sneak explosives or weapons on board. What would terrorists do? Well, they'd either switch targets to something like trains, bridges, or cities or they would ship a surface-to-air missile over here and blow a few airplanes out of the sky.

Why we are wasting a billion dollars on this shit is beyond me. Maximizing our safety is going to be accomplished through counter-terrorism work, not by "improving" the last line of our defenses.

Why not just have people fly naked? It would be a lot cheaper than buying these scanners.

Shens. He walks out of the scan and there are already multiple prints passed around in the terminal?

Sounds like a Bollywood star trying to get some free publicity in the UK while not-so-subtly bragging about how "well endowed" he is.

edit: quote from article:

"I was a little scared. Something happens [inside the scans], and I came out.
"Then I saw these girls - they had these printouts. I looked at them. I thought they were some forms you had to fill. I said 'give them to me' - and you could see everything inside. So I autographed them for them."

rofl, advance his career. He's already a well off actor, and it hardly even made the news. Looks to me like he just made the best out of his exposed body and signed the print outs like it was no big deal. If he wanted to 'advance his career', he would have made a huge deal out of it and went on national news broadcasts with his lawyer and threatened a lawsuit.

You obviously find this tale quite compelling, so I'll let it drop...

...but I don't suppose you'd be interested in buying a set of Kirsch speakers? $2000 below retail list price...

A lovely amusing interview still lacking basic credibility. Do you actually believe that there were all these "little girls" waiting with the prints as he walked out of the scanner?

If I can't interest you in those Kirsch speakers, how about a share in the Brooklyn Bridge? Think of all the money you could make off the tolls...
