I usually just bring an empty one to avoid hassle and fill it at a water fountain after security.

In Beijing they inspected our carry on luggage at the gate to remove liquids. I was kind of pissed since I just spent $ at the vending machine that was right in front of gate (figured I'd bring my own drink so I wouldn't have to annoy the stewardess).

Stewardess find it annoying when passengers ask for drinks?

I'm surprised how many people don't think to do that 😕

People are idiots, they think bottled water tastes better or is somehow better for you.

My GF buys bottled water religiously. But she buys it because of convenience on the go and most certainly BETTER taste by fucking far compared to tap.

I think those are common reasons for most people, not so much because it's healthier.

I also only drink bottled water / filtered water. The tap water here is heavily fluoridated whereas I'm used to water which isn't, so I can only get this in bottled water.

Yes, SOME people are apparently idiots. Some idiots don't realize that tap water in some areas taste like cholrine or can be linked to well water. I'm fortunate that our water isn't bad, but I can understand why some people want bottled water. I'm not just some idiot who thinks that all tap water taste like bottled water.

This also goes for the person why wants to bring up Penn and Teller. While they are ENTERTAINING, they are a one sided look at things. They only take into account water that taste good from the tap. They don't look at places like I mentioned.

Bottled Water is filtered tap water in a bottle

Fixed

The majority of bottled water is bottled at the public water utility. Nothing more. Same thing that goes to the water towers or distribution plants.

The taste of NY tap water is also pretty good from my lone experience there. Now Orlando's tap water was almost undrinkable to me. With normal California tap water, it is pretty easy to taste the difference between it and bottled water.

The coolers at my workplace are fed from an industrial RO system.

Then there's the DI system which I can tap off of, but I don't (it's a pretty far walk).

RO is quite sufficient for sure - 18megohm water is definitely overkill for topping your pusser unless you're a wet cell. 😉

They claim too pure water is bad as it acts as a scavenger for electrolytes in your body and is slightly acidic. Of course with zero total alkalinity it's going to swing to low pH quite easily.

Never had a problem and my instant Nestea never tasted better.

All depends where you live.
Some places have nice tap water, some don't. If you live where the tap water sucks, then it's understandable to an extent.

Water in Irvine, CA smells a step above sewage.

Scroll down to the drinking water section.

They purchase water from plants same as cities.

Like my city doesn't have it's own water treatment plant. The city purchases it from the next city over and resells it to us. They also sell it to a bottling company. I buy it and drink it, it's a convenience.

Just look on the bottle and it will tell you where it came from and if anything has been done to it. Some do go through an RO process and such fanciness. The Nestle Pure Life stuff is gussied up.

😕 Why provide a link that disproves your original statement?

Step 2 Activated Carbon Filtration(Municipal Water Only)
Step 3 Pre-Treatment
Step 4 Demineralization Process
Step 6 Remineralization
Step 7 Micro-Filtration
Step 8 Ultraviolet Light Disinfection
Step 9 Ozone Disinfection

Ozarka Brand Drinking Water offers an economical choice for consumers. Although this water is sourced from municipal water and/or well water, it is transformed through state-of-the-art processing techniques, which removes excess minerals and impurities.

Yeah, there is a taste difference between most bottled water and tap water even if its because of the added minerals in bottled water.

Yah I know Ozarka does the extra processes and add stuff. Just showing where some fall in the line of municipal operations. Grocery store brand stuff in particular is done at the distribution place.

You know that's quite true. It's very humorous to add the fact that they reside in Las Vegas, which has perhaps the most horrible tasting tap water I've ever experienced.

I've stayed out there where the water smelled like a fart. I would not bathe or brush my teeth with that garbage. Drink it? Ha!

It is a known fact that terrorists use water. Therefore, if you use or transport water, you must be a terrorist sympathizer or a terrorist yourself. :| 😛
