AirPlay screen mirroring quality differ across Apple Tv gens?

I'd like to use airplay to extend an OSX desktop to use my TV as a monitor for video editing. Perfect quality isn't super important but latency and stability are (1080p would be nice but isn't absolutely necessary).

Am I wrong to assume that an Apple TV 2 would be adequate?

If you're content with 720p, the 2nd-gen Apple TV will be fine. The resolution will affect detail, but that might not matter if you're just checking that your edits looks good on a TV.

Awesome - spoke too soon and see that the ATV2 costs more than the 3 on ebay because of jailbreak/plex - looks like the 3 is the sweetspot - thanks!
