Airplane skids off runway and onto street in snow

oh boy.. southwest goes thru the gates AGAIN!

I like southwest.. been a nice airline to me. I fly SWA!

Anyway its hard landing in the snow and iced up runways.. tehy should have not even attempted to fly in those conditions.

After this and the Airmarshal incident, I am a little concerned.

I have to spend about 11 hours on a plane today 🙂

After seeing some footage of Chicago, I'm amazing they let the plane land. There's so much snow coming down.

wohoo i'll be at that airport in around 12 hours and will be flying out, different airline though.

dam(pray for me)

i think this is the *first* real "accident" southwest has ever had no?

No. Southwest just hasn't had fatalities.

Welp, not anymore. Looks like someone on the ground died. 🙁

Yep...saying a young boy killed in a car?

🙁

Unfortunately you are right

"A Southwest Airlines jet skidded off a runway in a heavy snowstorm at Chicago's Midway Airport Thursday night, sliding into an intersection and killing a young boy in a car. Another car was also hit by the Boeing 737 and eight other vehicle passengers were in serious condition"

Plus Midway is a terrible place to land on a normal day. Look at most airports that have fields at the end of the runway. Midway has a 20 foot wall and buildings surrounding it. No margin for error.

Yup none at all.... Buildings, Big Wall, Runway, Big Wall, Buildings. And its not exactly a long runway at that either, only certain planes can land at Midway, larger ones can not.
