Airline tickets question

I booked a flight from RDU to CHI on the 14th to comeback on the 15th. But due to some change of plans, i wont be using teh first half (RDU -> CHI) but i DO plan on using the second half (CHI -> RDU). Do I have to alert travelocity or the airline of this?
 
YES... your ticket will be cancelled if you don't showup for all portions of a purchased ticket. I learned the hard way.
 
I don't think contacting travelocity would help... they would just say that you have to complete all legs of your journey else you can kiss your ticket goodbye...
