Airline Mechanic Arrested for Purposely Trying to Sabotage Plane

I think if your name is Abdul-Majeed Marouf Ahmed and you work on aircraft, you should probably assume you are being watched fairly closely, especially when the airline is already in litigation with the union over work slowdowns.

I like how all serial killers used to get "three names" and now all Islamic Terror suspects get like six "names".

Regardless of motive, however, this guy needs to go away for a long time and never be allowed near anything involving anything involving more responsibility than a cash register for the rest of his life.

Capitalism is responsible for someone trying to sabotage a plane? Are you one of the leftists of today that says you Democrats are moderate but yet you're anti-capitalism?

The person was trying to make more money by creating more work for themselves, I guess indirectly you could blame capitalism. It is an unfortunate side effect. I have seem it in factory workers also who were paid by piece made, they would bypass safety protocols to speed up their work so that they could get a few more pieces completed each day (saw someone lose a hand because of this).

Not saying another system is better or anything, just the reality of the situation.

In court he needed an Arabic interpreter. Hmmmm. One would think a tech should be fluent in the English language. They need to be looking really close into this one and any of his associates. It needs to be thoroughly investigated to make sure his intention was NOT to take down an airplane full of passengers.

Don't clutch those pearls too tightly as it interferes with blood circulation in the fingers.

No shit. He's a union guy so they take care of him as best they can, hire him an interpreter. It's similar to a lawyer-client relationship. Understanding the technical lingo of a job is entirely different than understanding what's going on in an American courtroom.

OTOH, One of them Ay-rab sounding names sends some people off into conspiracy theory land, every time.

Next time my AA flight goes mechanical I'm going to loudly blame the Al-Kaida or Sharia.

Sounds bogus to me, his excuse. I imagine that they are going to peer into this guy's history closely in an effort to determine if he has a fascination with terrorist activities.

Needless to say, this guy isn't too smart. Surveillance cameras caught him in the act.

Please. The guy understood the whole procedure of getting an airplane off the ground. He knew that bit of sabotage would prevent it from happening, and that's how it worked out.

A Radical! Islamic! Terrarist! would have done something entirely different, something that would make the plane fall out of the sky.

Wouldn't that sabotage have done that? Maybe he's not a terrorist, at least not one who wanted to see 150 people die. But he was dumb as fuck to think doing that would get him overtime and a few more bucks.

AA has claimed for a while now that their mechanics are purposely disrupting maintenance on their planes and has decent data to back that up. Lawsuits, restraining orders and less than polite language has been flying publicly back and forth between the union and AA management.

While the first part of your statement displays some ignorance, I do agree with the second part of course.

Negative.

But it aborted take-off after the pilots received an error message about the flight computer.

Of course it was dumb.

Mechanics can bring any operation to its knees just by following every rule every time.

I think if your name is Abdul-Majeed Marouf Ahmed @SlowSpyder will start a thread about it to take away the focus from white boy terrorism.

BTW - I can take out a sharpie use it on a picture concerning this event and prove it didn't happen.
