Airbus A380: So big; it's useless.

This thing is a monster!

You would spend more time walking accross the runway then boarding the A380 than the time spent actually flying. A plane on the ground is a plane that is not making money. Also there are a total of TWO airports that capable of landing such a large aircraft. Pointless and null due to it's size.

This plane isn't built for America. It's built for Asia, and they'll find a market there.

Well, certainly not the best choice for commuter flights.

But for 12+hour flights, the more people you can get packed into one plane the more economically feasible it will be.

China, for one, has a growing airline market.

There are plenty of flights between Asia and EU/US. Since the number of flights between countries is restricted by treaties and agreements, the airlines want to squeeze in more people per flight.

I think you should wait and watch what happens. Boeing has similar problems when they were trying to introduce the 747. But they pulled it off.

It's so big that Airport terminals cannot accomodate it. In order to board such a beast, you will have to walk from the front enterance to the last terminal then walk some more all the way accross the tarmac and then stand in line and wait to be boarded. Once you are boarded, you will have to wait even longer for every one else to get on.

Finaly the plane takes off and the flight is smooth but when time comes for you to land. THe process will start all over but in reverese

Wait to get off, walk accross 1 mile of tarmac, walk some more, and keep walking.

The A380 is a big passanger timewaster. But if could prove usefull if China decides to jump on the Illegal Immigration Bandwagon that was started by Mexico. One A380 is a heck of a lot cheaper than providing food and healthcare for 15 million Chinnese Citizens. 😀

They already have plans in place to have special gates for this awesome beast. At least I know Virgin is planning to at heathrow. Sad about the delays though...

Where exactly are you getting this information?

Yes, but cheaper tickets >> slight inconvenience.

Wait to get off, walk accross 1 mile of tarmac, walk some more, and keep walking.

Isn't this why they have buses on the tarmac and travelators in terminals for? You obviously need to travel some more.

It's not going to reach break even as early as they thought. Launch partners are pulling out. Wiring mess forced a delay that is costing billions.

How does this thing do in comparison with what Boeing is releasing?

I'd say its only good for cargo unless they add a hell more doors

Man that thing DWARFS the tiny little Kingfisher A320..

I don't understand what a Kingfisher aircraft is doing in that photo (not that it isn't a good airline). It's just named after a really crappy beer.

It wasn't named after Kingfisher beer, the company that makes Kingfisher beer created and own/operate this airline. The beer that is bottled and consumed in India is way better than the stuff they bottle in America.

omg i'll bet everyone at airbus wishes they had consulted with you before they built and engineered the craft. they would NEVER have thought of all these things prior to building such a plane. thank THE LORD JESUS we have you to show us the light.

I guess Airbus, and all the airlines that ordered it should have asked you before they made their decision.

btw it aint that much bigger than a 747 - and that is the plane the 380 could be compared with not the 787, which is a different different concept. Like van vs. a bus

From a Civil Engineering standpoint:

Airport runways will have to be repaved and/or redesigned (lengthen) because the A380 is probably much heavier than a 747 Jumbo. Pavements aren't designed for A380 probably, and will require more maintanence.

I guess airlines could make use of it IF they fill the planes with passengers. A lot of flights are pretty empty these days.
