air raid sirens going off right now

Air raid siren = term from early 60's caribbean missile crisis. 🙂

Today they're used for disaster alerts (tornado etc.), volunteer firefighter alarms, nuclear power plant safety zones, etc. Sometimes the controllers may malfunction and activate them in the middle of the night. Or there is a bona fide emergency taking place.

So no updates from OP? 🙁

well he did mention it was like 2 a.m I reckon once the 'air-raid' (probably about 30 sec. after OP) was over he got himself in to a horizontal position and right now doin' some serious snoring.

His IP shows as being in the same city as my fiancée, she didn't hear a thing. I was on the phone with her when this thread came up and I asked her about it.

No one would have believed, in the last years of the nineteenth century, that human affairs were being watched from the timeless worlds of space.

No one could have dreamed we were being scrutinized, as someone with a microscope studies creatures that swarm and multiply in a drop of water. Few men even considered the possibility of life on other planets and yet, across the gulf of space, minds immeasurably superior to ours regarded this Earth with envious eyes, and slowly and surely, they drew their plans against us.

Sounds like it was nothing, probably a neighbor playing a prank or a malfunctioning siren

I got freaked out the first time I heard the fire alarm in my apartment (graduate housing community, so all of the alarms in the whole building with 10-12 apartments per building go off). It was unlike any fire alarm I had ever heard, so I assumed it was an earthquake alarm 😕 it was 5AM and I was really tired

Maybe he's playing silent hill. Or even worse, is in Silent Hill.

You mean, he is still posting here, but we just can't see it? Creepy...

He probably thinks no one has replied to his topic yet...

They have sirens where I used to live both for tornado warnings and for the nuclear plant about 5 miles away, they tested them every so often, but definitely NOT at 2AM, if I had to guess I was think that one of the sirens near his house malfunctioned and went off and that is why it went off at such a time and was only heard by the OP.
