Air purifier recommendations?

It's not rocket science.

Find one that:

1) Has a HEPA filter

2) Moves a lot of air (volume)

I bought a Honeywell 50250. It's big and not silent, but it seems to work well. Based on my research and reading reviews, it's the best one for the price (~$160). It has a HEPA filter and moves a lot of air. There are 3 speed settings. Night, Day and Turbo. Turbo is like a big fan on high and only to be used for the first day or when it's extra dusty. I usually just have it on Day/Night mode and that's fine. Night mode if I'm watching TV/movies. I've found it at Amazon and Home Depot.

What's bad about this?

Air pollution
Red Alder leaf, showing the typical discolouration caused by ozone pollution.[22]

There is a great deal of evidence to show that high concentrations of ozone, created by high concentrations of pollution and daylight UV rays at the Earth's surface, can harm lung function and irritate the respiratory system.[15][23] A connection has also been known to exist between increased ozone caused by thunderstorms and hospital admissions of asthma sufferers.[24] Air quality guidelines such as those from the World Health Organization are based on detailed studies of what levels can cause measurable health effects. Exposure to ozone and the pollutants that produce it has been linked to premature death, asthma, bronchitis, heart attack, and other cardiopulmonary problems. According to scientists with the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), susceptible people can be adversely affected by ozone levels as low as 40 ppb.[25]

we have an ozone generator at our shop as a deodorizer for contents contaminated by fire.

Box fan + HEPA furnace filter. 😀

This. $15 box fan from walmart plus $8 furnace filter.

Works like a f'n champ. Great filtration, moves lots of air. Probably all you need. Just make sure the furnace filter is bigger than the box fan, or else air will be pulled around the filter, not through it. They make custom sized airfilters that you cut. that's what I use. I cut them to the exact size of the box fan.

When a band I was helping promote was selling out a local bar all the time, it would get smokey in the place. We had two box fans+ furnace filter setup and it cleared the room out quickly.
