This guy is one of my former collegues, albeit one I never met. What a dumbass.

From the Air Force Times:

SAN ANTONIO ? Capt. Barry W. Brown, the Air Force lawyer who pleaded guilty to conspiring with a female enlisted paralegal to murder his wife, was sentenced to 18 years in prison on Wednesday.

One day earlier, Brown pleaded guilty to attempted premeditated murder of his wife, conspiracy to commit premeditated murder and failure to obey a lawful general regulation by wrongful fraternization with an enlisted paralegal.

IMO the sentence was about right, if not a little on the light side. I bet he had a plea agreement with a max sentence of 20.

It kinda sounds to me as though he planned on the shooter being killed by police, or even potentially killing him himself after the fact. The fact that he requested a spree killing is really creepy. I find it a little funny he could only come up with a $280 down payment.

/hangs my head in shame :(

Either the media has gotten wiser, or the current crop is worse.

This was never happening 20-30 years ago; What happened to the professionalism that existed? This used to only be a Army type problem.

I don't know what to say to that. This case is clearly an aberration - these kinds of offenses remain very rare in the Air Force. The JAG Corps itself has an admittedly poor record over the last year or so, between this case and MG Fiscus' fraternization/sexual harassment problems, but in the main I still think highly of the AF officer corps as a whole, and the JAG Corps in particular.

I always thought of them as cool dudes and DonVito pretty much supported that assumption.
