Of course it has to do this when the temps are over 90 down here in FL. I noticed it was getting hot in my room so i checked behind the filter and sure enough, a sheet of ice about 1cm thick. I turned it off about an hour ago. Is there any way to get the ice off quickly, or is melting the only way?

hair dryer might work

mine used to do that all the time....i usually just sat around miserable until it melted naturally though 🙁

Problem.... im a guy..... i dont own one 🙂

hot water. If it's over 90 it shouldn't take long anyway, but if you can get some hot water on it, that would melt it quick.

If this a regular A/C unit the freon may be low. Usually the first symptom is the indoor unit freezing over.

Just set up a fan to blow in there and keep the air moving around in there. It will cut the melting time down by a lot.

If it's a window/wall unit, turn just the fan on, too.

Should i wait till ALL the ice is gone before turning it back on? Its almost all gone, just a little in one corner...

If air can get through, it will cool, but how long before it ices up again? I don't know.
