Brazil

I was told that Azphel was an East Coast server. So whether or not its an official Brazil server doesn't matter to me, especially given the fact that there are game channels.

I'm rolling an Asmo Chanter as well.

Looks like we could have a nice Anandtech presence on Azphel from what I'm reading:beer:

zebano, the open beta is over I believe so you'd have to wait til he 20th (if you pre-ordered) or 22nd to play the final release 🙁.

Yeah I found that out yesterday when I was finally able to install everything =( I realized I needed to register and they told me that my key had expired. If they offer a free trial once this is live I'll consider giving it a shot, but I won't commit to spending money on it now.

I'm looking for a group of people to play with. I'm pretty sure I'm going to be playing a chanter or templar. Not sure which side but leaning towards Asmo since I've played the crap out of the other side in ALL the beta tests.

If you're a typical MMO player and somewhat bored with your current game then I think Aion is worth picking up and playing for probably 6 months. It's pretty similar to WoW but with better technical graphics and less hand holding in many areas.

One example of this is the quest tracker. In Aion you can expect to see some of the quests provide you with general directions (south of here) instead of an exact waypoint to the target. I like this as an old school gamer because it succeeds in emphasizing combat and exploration in addition to questing. I don't like how some of the other recent releases (AoC and WAR) mimic WoW in putting the emphasis almost entirely on questing to the point where you may never enter an area at all if a quest waypoint isn't located there. How you feel about Aion's implementation of the quest tracker will ultimately depend on your preference towards "Follow the Waypoint" questing. Aion's implementation of this is my favorite to date.

Only problem with this is all the spoiled and lazy people that have been playing Aion. At least on Eylos, you see the following every 15 seconds: "Where's Tutty?" "Where's the cube?" "Where's the fossil?" over and over and over again. So damn annoying but not much you can really do but turn off general chat (which is gonna suck initially for a bit).

The general chat get better once I got out of noob zone (lv 1 to 10) but yeah, it is a cesspool in that zone for both Asmo or Elyos. Add in random wowtroll about how WoW is better than Aion and the general chat just exploded, I personally turned them off in that zone.

@Phobic9: Have you choose a server yet? If you do, you can go to www.aionsource.com and go to that specific server to look for a guild. Personally, Templar or Chanter should be easy to find group provide you are decent.

Speaking of terrible general chat...there were two people going at it for hours, and it all started because someone knew someone else from WoW and said they sucked at the game. I came back from eating dinner and they were stilling bitching at each other. One of the guys names was Zimmer or Zimman or something like that. It was downright terrible.

I wish they would release a MMO with only the basic's known to it. So everything was new. I remember when DAOC was release alt-tabbing out of game a lot to find quest spoilers online. Then realizing when the NPC said West, it was just outside of town and not in the Swamp a 30 min horse ride away. lol I actualyl remember quests I did in DAOC because they was hard and it felt rewarding.

I think they should bring back DAOC as a F2P mmo, vanilla servers with ONLY the first expansion pack (but the graphics like last one). Then give the option to buy fluff in the game (Housing as a payment? More char slots?), like exotic stuff that won't effect the PvP daoc (best PvPRvR game ever) is centered around then it would do fairly well compared to all these PvE only MMO out now.

Man so many good memories of pre-Atlantis DAOC. Still my favorite mmo ever up until Atlantis ruined it.

I predict there is going to be a big population balance issue, with Asmodians being the majority on almost every server. Everyone I hear from is going Asmodian, I'll probably roll Elyos just so I'm not on the overpopulated side.

That's what I did in War. Destro was massively overpopulated so I went Alliance. Boy, I regretted that... this time I'm going Asmo. I want to be on the winning side for once.

We were originally gonna roll Elyos then my friend tried out Asmodian in the beta and like the black wing. So we are going Asmodian now.

Hey phobic, not sure if you found a legion yet but sent you some details on mine in a PM. If anyone else is interested check out our webpage. Entropy

We were going to play on Nezekan for the DAOC roaming pvp groups but it got switched to an Oceanic server. We're on Vaizel now (west coast) going asmo.

I still think if they started with the original game and made just a few improvements, it could still have a following.

Are any of you concerned about the gameguard (alleged rootkit) program being installed with AION?

gameguard is a huge POS. i dont even know what it does, but it causes a huge headache for a lot of people.

I thought it was some kind of hack prevention thing, I've never really had problems with it and a lot of korean games seem to use it.

Well i preordered the game from steam, got it up and running waiting on tomorrow to reserve names and such. btw it works great on Windows 7 Pro final if any of you are wondering.

I work the night shift so i'm going to have to do trial and error on what server is best i guess. Hopefully the pvp is worth it in the long run. It looks like a blast from the pvp videos on youtube though.

Its going to be a blast I think.

Definately looking forward to the pre-selection tomarrow @3pm EST.

This and Dragonage should hold me till SWTOR...which is holding me until SC2/D3 lol.
