aiming with controller 360

i am a very casual 360 user, just got my own system and i find it very difficult to aim as good as i do on keyboard and mouse....i know there is a kit for 360, is it worth the money or practice makes perfect?

Practice makes perfect for the most part. I grew up playing flight sims and it took me forever just to get to where I can play without inversing the Y axis.

I think I know the kit you are talking about...the FPS Freek? I haven't tried it but previews have stated that it helps with more precise aiming with the controller.

I was a hard-core PC gamer for decades and when I got my 360 I just couldnt play FPS with a gamepad. I gave up for a long time but went back and just kept trying. You will get used to it. I still prefer KB/M but I can now play with a gamepad. Just takes a little time and patience.

I am the same way...I am getting better though.

It makes me feel good when I get back on the PC and dominate though 😀

You mean like this?

If I were competitive and didnt play with friends, I would.

I prefer a dual-stick controller to a kb/mouse on shooters.

I do too now. I know it's not as precise, but as long as everyone else has the same limitation it's fine for me. I don't have any desire to go back to playing PC FPSes.

One trick is to fine-tune your aim by walking around using the left stick instead of exclusively using the right stick.

it's not a bad idea to use both sometimes

You'll never be as precise as KB/mouse, but it's definitely possible to learn without too much trouble. Many games will help you out a little in the form of auto-aim.

It took me complete playthroughs on maybe 3 games before I became pretty proficient. Some games probably helped more than others. Play COD4 on XBL and you'll have to learn pretty fast, or else destroy your controller in frustration.

Learning to exploit the auto-aim system is important in Halo 3, especially in SWAT (all battle rifles, no shields). I generally do a "sweep" across the guy's head while the BR is in burst mode and one of the bullets will find its mark thanks to auto-aim.

I don't like the idea of allowing KB/M use on consoles, because not everyone will use it, and will create a disadvantage. I prefer shooters on the PC, as I am just more natural with them, though still not great (but have really yet to play much in the way of FPSs since getting my Razer mouse, which has a lot more precision, not to mention on-the-fly sensitivity adjustments, worlds better than my standard optical mouse I had.

I've gotten better with consoles. Definitely improved with the 360 controller over the past two years, because I've played it with at my buddies, don't own one myself. With the Playstation controllers, specifically the PS3's, I've improved a lot. I'm comfortable with using it for shooters, but would still prefer a shooter on the PC. I don't own a single shooter for a console that has appeared on the PC.
