AIM won't load up??

I've run adaware, and hijack this. Still nothing. All it does is load up for a second then instantly shutdown.

I tried uninstalling and then reinstalling..still nothing. I also tried an older version, which won't even run.

Anyone have any idea?

You might try

1) look to see if AIM keeps a log, and if it does, are there errors

2) look at the Windows Event Viewer (right-click My Computer > Manage)

3) try a System Restore back to when it was working (if it ever was)

4) if you suspect malware, run an antivirus scan

Theres the error log

You could try a third party consolodated IM that includes AIM like Trillian. (There are others, but I can't think of them right now). Trillian Basic is free, and I prefer it to AIM because it lets me know when I get e-mails on my yahoo account.

I highly recommend digsby

There is also trillion as stated above, pidgin, older versions of gaim, and for some vanilla AOL instant messenger installs google for Aim-Ad Hack. They strip out all the ad bots that come with aim.
