AIM stopped working

for some reason, when I upgraded to a newer version of aim (6.0) it says that the connection failed. the old version worked fine. I am using pidgin currently, but that keeps crashing. what should I do to get the old aim to work?!?1

Get rid of AOL....AIM.....anything to do with AOL/Time Warner. Its the devil!

Uninstall all traces of AIM. Start over from scratch.

Piding keeps crashing for him/her. Not exactly the best solution...

I do agree with the others though; don't use AOL related software; tends to just be overly bloated.

I'd probably try and figure out what causing pidgin to crash; I've been using it for the passed 4 years or so, only problem I ever happened was with a old buggy release and it would cause MSN to freeze.

Hmm, AIM has usually been good for me. I just use Aim Adhack to get rid of all the unnecessary junk.

If pidgin is crashing and aim isn't working, I'd have to say it looks like there's something wrong with the stability of the computer..

either software or hardware.. but most likely software

I've never once had pidgin crash.. and aim, as horrible software as it is, generally seems to work..

spyware could cause these problems
