Aim small. Miss small. ??

aiming at a small area increases your chances at hitting it. If the soldiers were the target they might have missed them. If the soldiers heart was the target then they still might have hit them. It's not really a gun thing more like a don't get scared and shoot with your eyes closed thing.

idunno if it so much a physical area, but a phsycological (i kant spell) thing. if you aim for the head, you have a much larger chance of missing and not killing than if you aim for the body. more or less be conservative

It's kinda like the old proverb about the archery contest. Three guys shot at a fish mounted on a wall. The guy who came in third place, when asked, said he was aiming for the fish. The guy in second place was aiming for the fish's head. The guy who won was aiming for the fish's eye.

Aim small. Miss small

You'll find this advice from shooting to passing to golf. Simply, to aim for the smallest possible target.

If you are shooting at the side of a bard, you don't aim for the side of the barn. You aim for a tiny spot on the side of the barn.

When passing, you don't aim for the receiver, you aim for his number.

In Golf, you don't aim for the green, you aim for the hole.

This way if you miss, you are still on the larger target.

Have you ever shot a .50 cal black ball gun? HOLY CRAP do they kick. Plus the fact that they have a super long muzzle. To hit someone you had to aim below center mass. When those cannons went off they kicked so bad that the barrel would rise and "hopefully" hit the torso. You would NEVER hit someone aiming at their arm or leg. Thus aim small (or aim at something small) and you would miss (small). Hope that helps.
