AIM on a mac

I just purchased my very first Macbook pro and my very first mac product. I tried downloading AIM but there is an extension .bin that will not open. It says it is the wrong media file or something.

pshaw... only teh newbzors use iChat 🙂

If you use more than one chat client, get adium. Otherwise, iChat will be fine.

Why on earth would he need Stuffit? iChat is included with the OS, and Adium is packaged as a .dmg Neither of which require stuffit expander.

I like to chat with family and friends through video chat and I'm a little disappointed mac lack of support for it. But I still love my macbook pro. 🙂

iChat supports video chat.... Adium doesn't though

OHHH, right, iChat doesn't support video chat through AIM, but it does if they also have iChat. So be more disappointed in AIMs lack of having it on Mac, rather than Mac not supporting it.

get adium...and use ichat ONLY if you need video, thats it.

adium is handy so i can have aim, google talk, and windows live all in one seamlessly.

It does though.....use skype. Skype works beautifully with macbook pro's, isight, and even bluetooth headsets.

Growl is excellent, I just wish that Apple include Growl support within their apps by default. I wish i could remember that red-headed stepchild knock off of Growl for Windows... the one that doesn't quite work the same.

It's called Snarl BTW
