I like GAIM when I am running Linux because I can sort all my IMs as tabs. I don't like Trillian, though, because of the skins and I don't like 'containers' as I'd rather just have tabs. I'm not very much for an overly done GUI at the price of performance and functionality.

Is there a GAIM-like AIM client, perhaps that can do file transfers (that GAIM lacks) without the resource-hogging nature of Trillian? I just want tabbed IMing.

I think there was something called 'superaim' but I don't know if it works with current client versions.

I still don't like Trillian...can anyone give me another idea?

The interface is just too akward. I want it to look like AIM, and I would like better profile viewing support.

Yes. But I also do not like the general appearance of Trillian. I also think it does way more than I need it to, and I don't understand why it doesn't render profiles with HTML

I ran into it before. It was no longer support circa 2000 :(

It doesn't work now.
