AIM away messages!

i don't know how many of you use AOL instant messenger.

but you know how you can check someone's away message by saying "get info?"

anybody know of:

a) what port that uses
b) what software i can use to monitor connections to that port and find out the source IP address?

basically, how i know if someone reads my away message or not? an IP is fine! the port thing would be convenient so i wouldn't have to filter out all the other connectiosn i have going.

good luck getting that to work. "Oscar," the aim server, does not transmit IP addresses. This is why you must direct connect to send files. Direct connecting establishes a link between the IPs. When you're just messaging or checking away messages, you are talking to oscar, which then talks to the other persons computer. There's no way to retrieve the IP from that.

You can retrieve Oscar's, then port scan it, then hack it, then get the other IP's.

unless you directly connect to the person... i assume it does...
