AIM and WMP won't stay open

I can't open AIM or WMP. They used to work perfectly but now they don't. Whenever I try opening them, they open for a split second and close. Can anyone help me?

Solutions that didn't work
Restarting the computer
Uninstalling, restart, reinstall, restart
System Restore

Edit: I use Vista x64
 
The sure-fire way is to reformat your hard drive and reinstall vista. This should be used as a last resort of course. Have you tried opening audio/video files that will play in WMP? What does that do?

Apart from that, I don't have much suggestions 🙁. Sorry I couldn't be of more help.
 
I was hoping that someone would come up with a way other than reformatting. I tried opening audio/video files for WMP and I still have problems. I'd get a busy icon for a split second and then nothing. Occassionally I can actually see the window open and close (all within a split second).

Can anyone save me from reformatting and having to find and install all of my 64 bit drivers again?
 
I've decided to just go ahead and reformat. I was having some partition issues that couldn't be fixed. Thanks for the help Obama
