If Jindal / Steele / Palin are the new face of the GOP then Republican better start worrying.

I see Jindal trying to gain national spotlight but not reaching anywhere.

I didn't watch it, but to hear about this guy now he's the republican version of the second coming of Christ; what they perceive as the anti-Obama. He's also dark skinned, so they feel they are covered in that area and now a lot of people are, seemingly overnight, on the BJ train.

Again, I didn't watch him and he may have good points, but this is the impression I have of his new found disicples.

Yet he's the governor of a state and you aren't.

George Bush was governor, so fucking what? All it means is he has sucked more pole than any other guy. I am laughing my ass off about the post above.

I mean, come on, the guy sounded like a condescending prick. You take that speech and compare it to Jim Webb's rebuttal to the State of the Union a year or two ago. Go ahead and see what the differences are. And Jim Webb was a Republican until he got fed up with them being a bunch of retarded (like Jindal).

He's actually a very smart guy, but we've seen a lot of smart guys with dumb ideas these days. They work on Wall Street, or in Washington, and are full of slogans and promises.

If this guy is the next "white hope" of the Republican Party, they are in worse shape than I think. The only chance they will have is with someone much more of a centrist, like Collins.

I heard an excerpt on NPR. He said that "Americans can do anything" and when he said it it sounded like a crying child being told that they're special, too, and that they can be an astronaut when they grow up.

edit:
I think he had some voice coaching too, his inflections sound funny to me (english is not my mother tongue)... it's all up and down up and down as if he's reading a children's book.

Yeah, his inflection sounded familiar. I couldn't pinpoint it till I saw this comparison.

Must be southern thing, don't see the resemblance at all.
I just think he got overcoached by some GOP "strategist"

Go figure...
Clinton was young, white and a governor. He was elected.
Bush was young, white and a governor. Note taken. He was elected.
Obama is young, black, and a senator. He was elected.
Jindal is young, black?, and a governor. He WILL NOT be elected.
Jindal walks the walk, but he has not the brains.
In a way, he reminds me of Joe The Plumber.
Wishful GOP thinking.
They would be better off banking on Sarah Palin.
Not that she would ever get anywhere, but a better gamble.
After all, all the GOP has for hope at this point is a crap shoot.

I kept visualizing his speech in a Big Bird or Mickey Mouse voice. OH BOY PLUTO! WE CAN DO ANYTHING!!!!!!!!

On a serious note, I couldn't believe he said it would have been better for the gov't to stay out of Katrina all together because we as Americans can do anything better than the gov't.

My jaw dropped.

1) He sounded like he was talking to third graders which made him look like a douchebag. Or maybe he feels that Republicans in the South need it "dumbed down", who knows.

2) Blaming the government for Katrina and wasteful spending by HIS party was just stupid. Yes, blame the government that I supported and voted for, don't trust them. Obama's administration is the same as Bush's. Sure.

3) Arguments of wasteful spending in the stimulus were lame. For example, the railway from Vegas to Disneyland will create a ton of jobs and help tourism. IMO it's stupid to criticize infrastructure improvements when it will create more jobs immediately (even if it is special interest spending to Pelosi's state).

4) Who gives a sht what you've done in your state? Most governors can point to something they did that had a positive impact. Acting like he needed to add credibility by talking about his accomplishments = lame.

Ha-ha-ha, very good.

That was a very, very weak Republican response.

The GOP just doesn't get it...we don't need empty symbolic figureheads as President (i.e. Reagan and Bush II).

Wether it's Palin appealing to women voters or Jindal appealing to the Gay community.

He's not gay, and he's of Indian extraction, in part, I think. Asian, anyway.

I like Jindal, personally. He's a smart guy, but he's very eager to keep climbining the government ladder. The lust for power is never quenched in a politician...and he's no different.

He needs to move more to the center if he's going to have an audience. There are plenty of right wingers out there with nothing but a Hot Button Issue Agenda, and they are going nowhere as well.

I guess he should have been a community organizer instead.

I don't give a shit if he's been given a degree, at every level, from every Ivy league school in the country. If he sounds like a condescending prick, his message sucks, and he is a hypocrite, he is worthless.

Go back and watch Jim Webb's rebuttal to the SOTU, he fucking tore Bush a new hole and exposed the Repuglicans completely. He did it ardroitly and succinctly.

What's really funny is Jindal was sitting there ripping on the bailout funds and Federal aid but his state is one of the biggest consumers of Federal aid in the country.

Then he comes up with some stupid anecdote about Katrina and boats? Are you fucking kidding me?

Combine that all with his ridiculous social conservative positions and he's a big loser in 2012 or any other time.

I do love the implication that because he is a governor, and the rest of us aren't, that he is beyond reproach. Wow, great line. I don't expect one Repuglican on this board to rip on Obama from now on. After all, he is President and beyond reproach.

LOL @ dmcwinnar - noting Jindal's academic accomplishments while being silent on Obama's.

Yeah, I was laughing pretty much the whole time, that was weak sauce.

Fake folksy? We just had that shit and his new and differing ideas on the stimulus - WERE ALREADY IN THE STIMULUS.

It was actually too painful for me to watch the whole thing. I felt sorry for the guy and switched over to Family Guy

Then why did you bring up Jindal's if you don't see the value in it? And if you did, why would you ignore Obama's acomplishments?

If you didn't get it the first time, I'm calling you a hack.

Jindal looked like a fool

Jindal sounded like a fool

and he said foolish things.

remind you of anyone?

Maybe we should be worried about Bobby Jindal being 45...afterall, it appears he isn't all that different from 43.
