Right, so someone who writes a song with these choice lyrics isn't a wannabe gangsta?
For the year 2G the rap game change for one name
Jewelz aim to slain anything on this plane
Remains are found when the best kept secret get heated
You went platinum wit a ghost writer,
so in the game you won you cheated
My slang bang when you need it
You man enuff to pull a gun be man enuff to squeeze it
(*gunshots*) Die if you don't believe it
Anything to do wit millions I'ma be wit it
Hats off to the hardcore nig[/b]gaz F[/b]UCK the rest
In my guess y'all useless, just talkin music
Never mistake me for a fake MC
You got the wrong idea nig[/b]ga I'm CT fool
Get murdered in a second in the first degree
Come to me wit i love you[/b]got tendacies
You'll be sleepin where the maggots be
Ain't nuthin kinda used to beef actually
but when it's on I raise first automatically
Won't catch me as a victim and a rap casualty
Dynasty Raiders hit VA in the summertime
Ten Bentleys in one line
Gats in each hand, twin 45's in mines
Snipers hittin nig[/b]gaz long distance for a rate
Sons and daughters, one order you'll be floatin in water
Bad news home of the Dynasty Raiders
One luv to the ol school nig[/b]gaz
They in the jail tryin to raise us
Even the ones that tried to blaze us
but couldn't even graze us
See dem b[/b]itch a[/b]zz nig[/b]gaz y'all killin don't amaze us
Y'all slobbin I'm spittin wit a mouf full of rage
(DIS MY NI[/b]GGA JEWELS REPRESENTIN BAD NEWS
YO MY HOMIE SAY DAT SHIT)
Everybody stay fly get money kill and fu[/b]ck bitc[/b]hes
I'm hittin anything in plain view for my riches
VA's finest fillin up ditches, when nig[/b]gaz turn to bitc[/b]hes
die for zero digits; I'ma giant yall mid[/b]gets
I know killaz that kill for a fee
that'll kill yo' a[/b]ss for free, believe me
How you wanna die fast or slowly?
Fast as a rolie, slow as a rolie polie
I bought yo sh[/b]it it was weak, trashed it now you owe me
All the hardcore nigg[/b]as know me
I aint knockin, I'm jus gon' bust up in the motherfuc[/b]ker
Takin anything that's rightfully mines
Lust, AKs, rifles, and nines
Physique crew, thick designs
wit jewels that shine all the time
Ain't nuthin sweet about this rate of mystique
Got nig[/b]gas while you eat sh[/b]it sleep and beat yo meat
die reachin fo heat, leave you leakin in da street

THIS TYPE OF MURDA DONT NEED NO HOOK
JUST FORTY FUC[/b]KIN BARS FROM DA MOUF OF A CROOK!!!
YO!!

He's grown up a lot since larry brown and has learned to show respect. He deserves a lot of credit imo for maturing...even tho he's got some to go, he's come a long ways.

Besides, who cares what people write in their poetry, not to mention that that was written over 4 years ago.

Kudos to bowen. Thats the way you're supposed to play someone who's on fire. Ever hear about 'Jordan Rules'? Its nasty, but on the other hand its the purest form of respect for one's game. 🙂

Its Carter's responsibility to keep himself on the floor, regardless, and he let his team down imo. At some point he's got to grow up and quit being a pansy when he's targeted.
Taking someone out by playing dirty is NOT the way the game is supposed to be played.
That's why the NBA is gradually going downhill. People are getting fed up with the parade of athletic idiots that are totally lacking in basic fundamentals that NBA teams are trying to pass off as pro basketball players.
If someone is on fire, the ideal is to stop him within the rules, not hurt him. If that means you have to double team the guy, then do it. You don't have a guy try to injure him.
It is very twisted to say that is a way of respecting someone's game. In fact, it's just plain idiotic.
They could have respected him by putting two guys on him and daring someone else to beat them.
THAT is the way the game is supposed to be.

Me too. I thought it got a 60 on an IQ test

Boy, was I wrong.

That's poetry? Ok, ace.

He's toned it down a bit, but he's still a wannabe gangsta.

From what I saw on the highlights, Bowen tried to frustrate him by a little head butt and by putting a body on carter and getting tangled up with him. There were no kmart-like cheap shots (of a couple years ago) or no mailman-type elbows etc to consider as cheap shots. What I saw on espn was child's play, and apparently even that was too much for carter.

Anyone who gets scored 50 points on before he leaves the game with 6 fouls (ie bowen) should be suspended imo. Bowen did the right thing, all in the name of good competition trying to get in carters head and slow him down. Being in chicago I've watched it over and over and over happen to jordan, but he would rise above it and let his game (and mouth) have the last word. Carter has to learn to do the same if he wants to be a go-to guy.

Iverson is one of my favorite players to watch in the league. He's matured a lot in the past few years, and I definitely wouldn't classify him as a ball hog. Especially this season, he's become pretty darn good at helping the rest of his team score points.

He just also happens to have the ability to take the game into his hands when his team needs it.
His stats are practically identical to his career stats. Slightly better in some categories, slightly worse in others. But basically he's playing the same as he always has.
So I am not sure what you mean by saying he's "become pretty darn good at helping the rest of the team score points".
It simply isn't true.
I don't like Iverson at all, I think he's a complete and total idiot, who didn't even deserve to get out of jail, much less play college, then pro ball.
But, I will say that putting that aside, I do respect his toughness and grit. Not many guys that little have done what he's done...in fact, I can't think of any.

Does anyone really care about basketball? NFL season is over, NHL season might as well be called, MLB Spring Training starts in a few days.

I've gained a lot of respect from AI (no, not artificial intelligence) in the last couple years. I'm not going to say he's a better player now than he was, but he seems like a different person. He plays with a lot of heart and passion (ie, in the Olympics). He hasn't had any legal problems lately. He doesn't show off or play dirty. I think he's shed any "wannabe gangsta" image.

You should tkae a closer look at the 2nd Technical that Carter received.
He went up for the jump shot and bowen basically "stumbled" under him.

Bowen plays good defense, I give him that... but he's also classified by many people as a dirty player.

He makes Karl Malone look like a saint.

The Olympics is a great example. He was one of the few players who took the chance to play for the US to heart, and showed great pride and respect in representing the US. Even when the team's performance was humiliating, he showed a lot of class in interviews afterwards. He's come a long way imo.

Alright. Time for me to add my 2 cents to this conversation.
I'm sick of the perpetual anti-black culture banter that exists here at ATOT.

Too many times a rap thread comes up, people like you come around and say rap sucks.
You bring up his rap verse, what's that got to do with the man? You want him to rap about gardening? Let's see you whip up some lyrics, hot-shot. And how is he a "wannabe" gangsta. He is what he is, a product of his life, his experiences, and his environment, and that's that. If he so happens to appear to be gangsta to you, then it's you who has a misconstrued generalized stereotype of what a gangsta is. Is he a gangsta for the way he talks? The way he dresses? His attitude? What is it?

How about this... Do you know any gagnstas? Do you associate with gangstas? We all know he's not a gangsta, but if you truly think AI's a wannabe, show me a real gangsta.

Nobody's taking shots at you being a high-horse, moral Mr. Rogers wannabe. Take your anti-NBA and anti-black culture rhetoric elsewhere. The thread was started based on a wonderful performance by Mr. Iverson, but you can't even appreciate that because you've got your panties in a bunch about him being a so-called "wannabe gangsta" and hating on the NBA.

Grow up.

Maybe YOU should grow up. AI being described as a wannabe gangsta is about right. He's been in some trouble, but not quite drugs/shooting/robbery, etc. But he talks and acts like he's one of the "boys".
There aren't nearly as many "gangstas" as there are wannabes that try and emulate them.
And yeah, rap does suck, because most rappers themselves suck. With a few notable exceptions.

Seems I struck a nerve...

And sorry to insult Iverson's lyrical genius, I wish I could write that crap as well as him.

Iverson's 'made it', so why does he have to act like a two-bit dipshit?

Besides, I'm not anti-black, I'm anti-dumbass. I hate dumbasses of all races. And if Iverson is a model of the 'black culture', well, I'm sorry to hear that.

Too lazy to reiterate entire post.

Olympics. yada yada yada. What wannabe gangsta would do what he did in the Olympics?

Many people care about basketball. I could say the same thing about the MLB and NHL. Opinions are like assholes. Yes, yours stinks too.

As to Iverson being a "wannabe thug," how does this relate to him scoring 60 points in a basketball game? Its not like the OP claimed he was Mother Theresa or anything.
