probably a few years away from ai being able to deal with the fuzzy-esqe logic of a real FCS, but it may be time to start thinking about retiring the zoomies.

the future might be something between f111 and b1 in size, flying loiter and deploying drones to gain superiority of an area.

Imagine if that AI was put on something designed from the ground up to never be manned. It's already good (at least in simulation) with equipment that's limited by what we've had to design around human limitation in g-force exposure. I would assume that the things that could be done in an aircraft that has no human to worry about would be bananas.

Wow, sounds pretty impressive. It didn't just beat him once or twice either, but every single time. I'm guessing the programmer must have some aeronautical or flight experience to make it that good.

We always used to call AI cheaters because they could push the planes just shy "turn into fireball" maneuvers.
They actually tried it by limiting the conditions of the AI virtual aircraft and it still beat the humans.

We could probably tie one of their virtual hands behind its virtual back and it would still kick virtual butt.

i was beat by the ai pretty much every time in top gun on NES, especially trying to land the damn plane or refueling.
