I have my appointment in a couple of hours to get all 4 of my wisdom teeth yanked.

Wish me luck!

EDIT: So I'm back, and I'm hurtin' like hell. Nothing like swallowing blood all day to keep you full 😕

Dude, you shouldn't be swallowing blood... they are supposed to stuff gauze dipped in a antiseptic in the holes. They did that with me and it tastes like basil, I can't stand basil now...

I had 3 taken out at once, the other I pulled out as a kid by myself. It hurt for a few days and was tender for a few weeks, but I was back to normal in not too long.

Well, I got it done at 11 this morning. It hurt LIKE HELL (can't lie to you) for a few hours with lots of bleeding. Even with a mouth full of gauze, a lot of blood was swallowed, it simply can't be avoided.

Now that I've been on percs for a few hours, the sweeling has gone down (use lots of ice!) and the pain has subsided to a constant, dull pain. The bleeding has slowed as well, making eating a little more possible.

Impacted ones hurt the most ( I had one), but the drugs truly help. Compared to what can happen if you let them grow in without extraction, I suppose I can deal with this pain fo rnow.

Spooner, were you knocked out?
Interestign thing about that. I got the general anesthesia (sp?), but I still remained conscious. Sparing you some of the more gory details, you can't really feel pain, but I was VERY aware of what was going on. Lots of pressure put on my mouth, and you can even hear bone cracking if they have a hard time extracting it.

"Knocked out" is definitely not the word, but it's definitely better than local. Honestly, the few hours after the surgery is way worse than the surgery itself.

Thanks for the info. Hope you feel better Spooner. I want to be out completely when they do it. I woudl rather wake up when its completely done.

that's what i thought i was getting! but all in all, the surgery really wasn't that bad. 4 teeth in under an hour.

Thank GOD for insurance! My little trip this morning cost over $2500. I paid $100.

Shweet 🙂
