AHHHHH STUPID REARVIEW MIRROR THINGY!!11

Danman

Lifer
God, this is the THIRD time I put the epoxy on the little piece for my rearview mirror in my Grand Am. I sanded it down, scrapped all of the old shat off, yet it still wants to come off after I let it dry. I let it dry overnight this time, I just went out there and put it all together and after I was done it touched it and it fell yet again. ERRRRRRRRRRR POS GLUE! :|

wouldn't SUPER Glue work for that?

Did you happen to remove the mirror button from the mirror before gluing it on ?

Did you wipe the glass with alcohol before gluing the button on ?

what a stupid comment. as if pontiac uses some material that is PARTICULARLY difficult to glue to the windshield vs everyone else.

Did you use actual rearview mirror adhesive because it's like $2 at walmart.

Well, I didn't use that one there, but I used a kit where it came with sand paper, alcohol pad thingy, and the epoxy where you have to mix it together.

What could Pontiac do to fix this? Its cheap adhesive that's at fault here.

it's just a typical nonsensical "let's hate domestics no matter what" attitude you see so much of here at AT.

I had the same experience when reattaching a rearview mirror. The best answer is to have it done by a windshield or body shop. They have the experience to get it right and they may have a stronger industrial grade of the right glue.

If my Dad can't do it, that's what I'm gonna do.

What brand of adhesive are you using? I used the permatex brand on my Jeep Cherokee and it worked great. Another consideration is the weight of your mirror. If your mirror weighs too much, consider going to an auto parts store and getting a lighter one. 😉

Umm......it's electronically attached too. There are map lights right under the mirror itself.

Well....another alternative is to take it to the dealer and ask them to do it. If they charge 10 bucks, at least you can continuously bother the crap out of them until they get it to stay. 😉

Perhaps use some common sense and use something better? Doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure that one out. 🙂
