Well my inbox is getting flooded with idiots asking to be removed from a list. We had a warning go out about a new virus at work. Well someone replied to the list that included everyone.

Now everyone that got the email insists on replying to the list saying "Remove me from the list"

They are too stupid to just let it die or contact the person that runs the list. Instead they spam EVERYONE(2000 people) with a stupid message.

That then leads to more idiots replying back to the entire list saying remove me. It is a vicious circle and these morons can't figure it out.......

Time to create a rule in outlook/outlook express to delete them right off the server rather than download!

Had the same thing happen here a while ago. Somehow the admins set it up now so that when they send out an email to everyone it's impossible to reply-to-all.

That happened to us a year or two ago. A teacher got the free applebees gift certificate hoax email, so she forwarded it to the "all staff" distribution list, which includes about 3,000 employees. Then people started re: all to it, etc etc...very amusing.

That's happened to me a couple of times myself. My favorite is when my supervisor asks for our time sheets and somebody sends it to everybody in the group when they should have sent it to just our supervisor. You worked THAT many hours? I don't THINK so! :)

Well after about 50 or so this morning, it has taken a lot not to just go off on these people. But I haven't. I just hit delete.

I would setup a rule but these list usually contain important information.

OH and BTW, I use Outlook through a Citrix client to access all my email. That means that doing normal tasks can be a pain in the ass. In the last minute I have received 10 more emails.

Which department? Your mail admins should take some lessons from our mail admins. All of our mailing lists are setup differently.

create a rule that any message that contains the words "list" "remove" and "me" should be forwared back to the person who sent it.

then duplicate it 5 times.

I was too stupid??? Jackass, I didn't send the damn original email in the first place. I just happen to be in one of the distribution lists.

DoD

This isn't a problem that can be fixed with our local base. We don't handle these lists. A contract company handles the lists :disgust:

Reply to everyone that asks to be removed from the list with something like this:

"Thank you for confirming your email address. Your email will be added to our list of valid email address that will be sold to thousands of marketing companies."
