I've lived in Texas all my life, and I do not associate roaches (what that looks like) with summer.

Maybe June bugs, but roaches?
 
Those are tree roaches, I get them here in Nac too. Big ugly things upwards of 2" long. And they fly. 😱 They're a nuisance but they can't breed or survive indoors. They usually sneak in during hot weather and either die on their own after several hours or the cat finds them.
 
It started to fly and tried to land on me. Glad they haven't found the inside of my apartment yet. This one is too big for the geckos to eat. Good to know they aren't as nasty as the little ones.

They're incredibly quick here. So quick that apparently, when a light is turned on, they scurry for cover before the light crosses the room to them. Can't recall ever seeing one in my life.
 
Had to take someone to the airport the other day, out of the house at 430am and it was 82f with 85% humidity, a lovely morning.


And had to bug bomb the garage, looks like some of those bastards were setting up shop in the crawlspace and coming out at night. Some of them were well exceeding golfball size and would no longer run down the walls when the lights turned on. Popped a couple canisters, swept up the wriggling remains and haven't seen a live one in weeks.
 
I keep seeing these occasionally in my apt in Dallas during the summer. Have never seen 'em alive, always dead on the floor.

We just had an 6-8 inch rain about 2 1/2 weeks ago, they are definitely out in this area.

Just hang out at the kitchen light switch and flick it on and off repeatedly until they die from exhaustion. I hate those big palmetto bugs, sounds like a mini-chopper when one whizzes by..
 
Didn't realize so many of you were in Texas. To the guy in Nac, I grew up in San Augustine. There were plenty of red wasps and those roaches.
 
here the biggest thing are stag beetles and those avoid entering teh house and are not yucky anyway so no biggie.
 
Texas is the name of a native american tribe along the gulf coast.

But actually it was the name a different tribe gave that tribe.

It means 'stinky' because they would cover themselves in stink to keep themselves from being eaten by mosquitos.

The gulf-coast is a shit hole; the toilet bowl of the earth; and texas is the asshole, shitting in it day and night.
