Being the proud father of a 3 1/2 year old daughter and a 1 1/2 year old son I really appreciate peace and quiet. I built a AMD 64 system useing an Antec SLK3700AMB case that had a very loud PSU fan and after a few weeks of listening to it humm I decided to pick up a Seasonic Super Silent 400w power supply at Frys ( $99.00 with a $15.00 MIR ). What a difference. I am not sure if I got a bad Antec or not but the Seasonic blows it away in the noise department! I am very pleased so far.

Just wondering - did yours come with the 24-pin mobo connector, 6-pin PCI-E graphics card molex, and native SATA connectors? The 400W+ versions are supposed to be ATX12V 2.0 and EPS12V compliant.

I also have a Seasonic, the 350-watt Tornado. I like it a lot... It is indeed very quiet, though it runs a bit hot. I'm willing to sacrifice some cooling for quietness though-- I'm sick and tired of having a computer that sounds like an aircraft-testing wind tunnel.

I have an Antec and it has the same PS as your's. It is very quiet for me, maybe you did get a defective one?

I just posted a similiar thread today

Silence

Yours is loud? Mine is very quiet. I can't even hear it with my head near it.

Just to point out Russianpower we all know that a CPU *can't* be loud. It is the CP Fan that is loud.

i think a little noise is ok.. too much silent is not good either, you can't tell if your computer is even functioning 😀

Happy owner of a Seasonic Super Tornado 400W myself, and also installed a 300W in my parents computer, combined with the Zalman 7000AlCu CPU fan. Definately reduced the noise going from some cheap PSU + Stock AthlonXP cooling.

My LianLi PC-61 with a Vantec ION2 350W is almost silent just it is the crappy stock cooling AMD packs with their Athlon XP processors making all the noise
