Turn on MSNBC, quite a few 'bullsh*ts' are slipping through in an interview with Traficant. :D

Well technically it's not one of the 7 dirty words so they don't HAVE to bleep it out as per FCC rules, I don't think.

Ah, I was not aware of that.

I guess if the interview weren't live, they would probably do it anyway though. Private censorship is often more strict than public.

Edit: Typo

I'm pretty sure "swearing" should be allowed on TV, it's dumb and old-fashioned for swearing to still be offensive... They're just words made out of letters for crying out loud...but somebody, sometime, decided that they were going to be BAD and that you can't say them. How gay.

Back in 1991, I was watching some UHF channel in Boston. They showed the movie 1984 uncensored on TV.

Can you say boobage and beaverage?

It was great.

Certain things just aren't appropriate. You might draw the line differently from where a TV network draws it, but that's just a difference of degree.

The fact that words are made of simple letters is meaningless. So are other words, like "n*gger", and other hateful things, and most decent people agree that they shouldn't be said. You also can't yell "fire!" in a crowded theater. But it's just a word, made of letters! Clearly, other criteria must be considered.

Hehe. I remember because I had just graduated college and was sitting around loafing waiting to start my new job overseas.
