no the general rule is that u have to clear intersection. So who ever is in intersection after red light is on and incomoming cars stopped moving, u have to make your turn and clear intersection.
That bold part is risky - you are hoping the incoming cars stop moving in time for you to get safely out of the intersection. Imagine you are turning left from a two way street to a one way street at the interesection. The incoming cars just don't stop running the red light - and you are sitting there and will be the first car hit from an inattentive driver who just saw the green light and not you sitting there.

that happens sometimes but u just don't move till they stop running red light. Technically rule is if your back tires can clear crosswalk u can be in the intersection but it have been modifie to 2 car rule and cops are not ticketing it. Don't think they even know the exact law.

just remember pulling out of the parking lot, floor it and turn the wheel fast wile continueing to hit the gas, then slam on the breaks. it will get you off on the right foot.

LOL. LISTEN TO THIS MAN!

I'm still laughing.

ROFL Tom that was hilarous!! 😀

Stop fully at every stop sign and look both directions before crossing. If you misjudge and are about to cut off a car, it is better to go all the way through the intersection then stay there and go "oh my god! oh my god!" that will surely get you a fail.

Keep your speed at the speed limit, not under or above 🙂

When parallel parking, make sure to center your car between the two other cars, and center your steering before you put the car in park.

Other than that.. just obey all traffic signals, ALWAYS check your blind spot for EVERY sideways/turning movement that you do and you'll be fine 🙂

The best thing you can do is get to the place early and then drive around the nearby neighborhood for 30 minutes. That way you can spot things that might trip you up - hidden bumps, one way streets, stop signs that are concealed, sudden and seemingly pointless drops in speed limits, etc.

Here are reasons my friends and family have failed (I passed on my first attempt)
1) My wife was driving 25 in a 25 mph zone. She saw a 30 mph sign far up the road and decided to speed up to 30 mph. Well legally it is 25 until you pass the sign. She failed.
2) My sister failed for doing a very common thing. You legally must stop BEFORE the crosswalk and stay stopped before it. She was turning left at a light. There were cars in the way so she stopped before the crosswalk. Then she inched her way forward (which I bet 99% of drivers illegally do) until she was stopped basically in the middle of the intersection. Then she turned left when she had the chance.
3) My good friend failed for driving in the oncoming traffic lane. Most of the turns in our town had a left turning lane when you want to turn left. All of them except a couple of intersections right next to the courthouse. He needed to turn left - so he assumed there was a left turning lane and pulled to the left. Well there wasn't - there were just two lanes - each going in opposite directions. You can imagine the horror on the tester's face.

#3 is an example of someone who needed to test drive the area.

It's not illegal to advance into the middle of the intersection when you want to turn left, as long as you're not blocking the left-turning traffic on the other side. In fact, it's a good idea to do this because you can still cross (legally) even if the light turns red for you as you're already in the intersection, and you let more people behind you get a chance to cross as well. Where the heck is doing this illegal? Never heard of that.
