So it's winter time again here in Chicago, and that means it's there is no humidity in the air. Throughout the winter I get little "patches" of dry skin on my fingers, mostly on the sides or on top around the joints. I use Aveeno lotion, which seems to help most of the time. Does this happen to anyone else?

Funny you should mention it. I'm typing this from the South Side, and I have exactly the same problem. It went away after about two weeks, though.

On a sidenote, what do you think traffic will be like going out of the city tonight? I'm driving home for Thanksgiving, and I really don't want to run into a traffic jam, or another bout of snow.

Keep your fingers in your nose, it's nice warm and moist in there.
It's a hit with the ladies too.

Tonight shouldn't be to bad. I assume it's going to be regular rush-hour Chicago traffic. I think Wed is the highest travel day or something like that. Good luck!
