Because if they dont follow it, they get to make my lawyer's boat payments. 😛

DanTMWTMP, the funny thing about this "unique" item is that my local Staples store has plenty of them in stock...and they come w/ the video card 🙂
 
Saddest thing is there were at least 8 different people bidded on it.... I wouldnt even pay a dime for that box, not for $7 shipping either.
 
You know the buyer is going to be all surprised when he gets the empty box and will leave negative feedback for the seller, even though the seller really did nothing wrong - he's just cleaning out his closet!

No it wouldn't be if it was clearly stated that the store was selling only the box. It was clearly stated in the description that this does not include the video card so in essence, it is not fraud.

that is hilarious, I feel terrible for the guy who won, he must have been an idiot tho not to see it was just the box!
 
Sotheby just auctioned that box for $37,000.00.

Apparantly it was constructed from the wood pulp recycled from Ben Franklin's early correspondence to tech support regarding a malfunction of his backup quill.

Who's laughing now!

I got a box just like that a week ago for only $40😉

That was the title of his auction. It would be even more funnier if eBay made the guy sell him the card for $51 w/ box included.
 

Auction closed 10/31. 5 weeks later, there's yet an exchange of feedback. I bet no money changed hands. The seller is an a55hole.
 
You can't defend the seller in this situation. The analogy to doing it in a store is a good one. What if a store put that empty box on the shelf, said "all sales are final", and had a small shelf tag that said:

PNY NVIDIA GeForce 3 Ti 200 64 MB DDR RAM
box

People would scream bloody murder if they got an empty box. You think the seller was being "clear"? I don't.

He lists the auction under "video cards". It's not a video card, is it?
He leaves the word "BOX" out of the title. Why? Because he's trying to scam someone.
Why does he say "There are no returns and all sales are final."? I'm guessing it's not because he wants a satisfied customer.

For a board that is so proud of keeping trolls away, I'm surprised so many people want to jump on the buyer for being stupid. But I notice no feedback was left for the auction, so maybe the buyer told him to shove it. I hope so.
