Really virtually all the US presidents (well at least most of them, at least it seems like it) have screwed arround, so really its no big deal that Clinton screwed arround. & lying about it is no big a deal either, as its part 'n parcel to lie about it when you screw arround.
The American reaction was totally over the top - In most of the world a leader doesn't has respect unless he's a pants man & screws arround. Look at France, where the French take pride in the fact that Mitterand had a kept mistress in a flat in town (at Mitterand's funeral the mistress walked side by side with his wife). Then there's Indonesia's Sukarno, who the CIA tried to blackmail, by getting a woman from the Russian embassy (who was secretly working for the Americans) to seduce him. But it backfired when all the Indonesians took pride in Sukarno & that he still had women wowsing 'magic'. Look at Africa, where its impossible for an African leader (except Mandela) to have the respect of his people, unless he has a retinue of wives & mistresses following him arround where ever he goes.
IMAO, I don't think any of America's postwar presidents have lived up to Roosevelt's legacy. Which isnt surprising as they were all politicians & as we all know, politicians are (in general, there's the odd exception), like lawyers & bureaucrats(actually many polies have been all 3) the lowest form of life. In this regard American politicians are no different than politicians anywhere else on the planet.
Mnn...I've got the feeling I've already said all this somewhwere else.......
