You realize that Obama didn't start the drug war right? He hasn't done much to end or curb some of the worst parts of it, but neither has any president since it started. The best you can say about it is that he hasn't escalated it like Ronald Reagan did.

Unfortunately, I don't see it ending any time soon because any politician coming wanting to reduce mandatory minimum sentences, or decriminalize or even legalize some or all drugs will be committing political suicide. There might be some hope once the Boomers are gone...

The one that gave us universal health insurance, equal pay for women, withdrew the troops from iraq, killed osama bin laden, has begun a drawdown in afghanistan, saved the auto industry, repealed don't ask/don't tell, reversed bush's torture policies, boosted fuel efficiency standards, prevented the economy from collapsing completely, passed credit card reform, improved food safety, reduced the absolute racist disparity in sentencing between crack and cocaine, cut Reagan's wasteful missle defense spending, cut off predatory for profit colleges from exploiting students/government, expanded healthcare for children, expanded stem cell research.

Need i go on?

That is pretty impressive. I'm particularly glad he got stem cell research going again. I was afraid the religious nuts had killed it. That could literally be the future of medicine.
 
Actually BoberFett, how long were you on unemployment? Obama extending unemployment for you might be another hope and changey thing he did for you.

They do the exact opposite of what his memo asked them to do. He asks them not to raid and prosecute taxpaying, employing dispensaries; then they run off and set a record for raids and legal actions against dispensaries.

Then you might be really lazy, because Bush's "Fuck Saddam. We're taking him out." of 2002 makes that kind of a dumb angle to try.

Are there any examples of Obama doing similar with regard to pot dispensaries? If there are I'd love to see them.
