I love Legos, every now and then I buy myself a small set and still get that same giddy rush I did as a 7 year old; and then, I build it, put it on display at my desk and go on with my life. I don't go around telling people how AWESOME Legos are and make people enjoy what I like as if I wanted some kind of approval from them.
That's my beef with 4chan and their memes, to me, it feels as if they have to make sure others like why they like so they have some connection with people. Those that go to 4chan strike me as people with horrid social skills and have that "screw normal!" mindset; yet, they find comfort in others thinking like them.
So, what, the only "correct" form of communication is commercial advertising? The package generated by the commercially interested party is the sole allowable path by which one can learn about things? And if you miss that package or the package misses you, the item becomes de facto unavailable?
The entire main site of Anandtech is information -- reviewers telling you what they found and what they think. Should they shut down and let you stumble about on your own trying to figure out if 6600GT is faster than a 5770? Whether a 3.2GHz Pentium 4 is faster than a 2.9GHz Athlon II?
At the urging of others who have reviewed My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic and said it is good, we have watched it, and also found it to be good.
Rated best new cartoon of 2010. Growing popularity among a diverse adult audience for its animation, stories, and characters. Yet you wish to think it's "poor social skills."
Riiiight.
More like that we're networking just fine and you're just an idiot.
Your Lego thing is not novel information. We all had Legos growing up. We do not need you to tell us about Legos because we are well versed in what it means. We can use that as a solid basis to determine whether we'd like it now.
But you can not use much that seems to relate to My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic to determine whether you'll like it on its merits, because it's
different. It's not the crappy 80's cartoon. It's does not follow the pattern laid out over the last 30 years that anything aimed at children has to be insipid and anything aimed at girls has to be nausea-inducing. Perhaps you know that
you are such a buzz kill that you will let nothing will reach you, but that is no true judgement of the show. If you're a stick-in-the-mud, that says nothing about those of us who are not.
Watch it or not, that's up to you. But it's not a meme.
