AHCI VS IDE Question
I just built a Asus P5Q Deluxe which is better?

I just got done installing WinXP and all my apps and I just started reading up on AHCI after I had an issue running Acronis True Image off the CD to do a back up..
It could not see the HDDs

I have a new WD 1TB Black coming tomorrow and should I take a few days to re-install everything to use AHCI or is there a way to get WinXP to boot off AHCI after it was installed in IDE mode..

In fact can I install WinXP in AHCI mode???
I think I just need to add drivers on floppy during install?????

NOPE

I was reading my manual and it had 10x of DMA

Last time I was coming around here DMA was new

I wasing hoping someone would take the time to help and give me the short answer but I guess they think its beneath them........

I just wish my manual explained a little about these things other than it has the options..........

I have been away for a few years guess I need pick up where I left off.........

Anyone have any good message boards?????
I need to learn what I missed in the last five years.........

i gave you short answer- AHCI driver msut be installed during windows xp setup "Press F6 if you need to install a third party SCSI or RAID driver"

For the people that dont know everything like me and you want to install AHCI drivers like you you might want to ready this at Asus

I just waisted two hours trying to get the raid drivers to install.........
