ah yes, that great feeling, speeding ticket

yes, i was speeding, and i was going a good rate... 78 in a 55 was the ticket.

now, in the state of Ohio, how do i go about pleading down to maybe driving class, and where do i figure out what my actual fine is?

no where on this ticket does it say the fine anywhere. where it says "fines" on the back, it is blank.

also, how do i go about changing the date of the court date, as i will be in NC for a wedding on the date it is scheduled.

and yes, as soon as i went past him, and saw him hit his brakes, i was already on the curb waiting.

anyways, thanks for the help, i will be doing more research myself later after class.

yes, 78 in a 55, yes, its very very fast.

If you plan on paying the fine (which it sounds like you ought to) then call the court house and ask them. They will tell you how much it is. Pay it ahead of time and forget about it.

talk to the da when you go to court

i just pay em when i get one, not really any sence in trying to contest when your over that much...

25+ is reckless driving. I think you speak with the DA's office about alternative options. You should be able to call the PD and ask about doing community service or drivers ed., they will point you in the right direction of who to talk to.

It's Ohio - you're screwed. 😀

The state troopers there are absolute bastards about speeding (and most other things). I don't know the traffic laws there as I somehow managed to avoid getting pulled over when I lived there. Good luck though.

i believe i will call the court house.

im hoping for it dropped from my liscense if i do a driving course.

go mike! zoom zoom...

i was doing 93 in a 55 once, somehow got away from that one....no ticket <3 hick cops that like me.

call the number on the ticket, they will give you everything you need to know about your fine, as for talking it down to driving class plead guilty when you go to court, i think they knock it down if you do so. (dont quote me on this)

Another option is, I can't remember the technical name of it, but if you have not had a ticket in at least 3 years you can pay the ticket but it will not appear on your record. This might only be an AL thing but you can check into it. Good luck!

If this is your first offense...maybe the judge would let ya strike the ticket down from your record when you take driving school.

it is the first one that is on my record, the other was on the Ohio Turnpike, which never hits your record.

I've got court dates August 9th and 10th. One for 45 in a 30, the other for 91 in a 60. Already plead not-guilty to both, shouldn't have a problem getting out of either. Both speeds were measured using moving radar.

as was mine, how do you plan on getting out of it???

Michigan and a few other states work on a seperate point system for license and insurance. If you plea down a ticket here you can have the points removed from the license, but insurance will still know about it and adjust your rates accordingly.

Moving radar doesn't have judicial notice like stationary radar does. This means that it has never, in a court of law in the United States, been proven to be accurate within a degree legally acceptable to the law. In order for a speed recorded by moving radar to be admitted into court, the prosecutor would need to have an expert on hand to prove the accuracy, reliability, etc of the moving radar.

There are a ton of websites out there. Search for judicial notice and radar.

i found this on the first link i clicked...

"State of Ohio v Wilcox (1974 OH)
Ohio Court of Appeals
Case concerned with moving radar. Court ruled 3 criteria must be met;
1.) Expert testimony required to substantiate reliability and method of operation.
2.) Evidence presented showing radar in proper working order before and after alleged violation.
3.) Radar operator must be qualified through training and experience. "

any idea?

45 in a 30? jeez... I need to be careful on our 25 roads, I've done 50 down them.

that's crazy. Most streets with 25 MPH speed limits are residential streets. You are going to kill someone else.

If you need to drive 'reckless' (which even I concider 50in a 25 to be), at least do it where you will be the only casualty. Don't take others with you when you run out of skill.
