In a related story, I saw a white 4 door chevette today while driving my stock 1980 GMC 3/4 ton High Sierra work truck. I had to restrain myself from swerving into its path and putting it out of its misery.

Cripes, when growing up my parents owned two of the damn things. A 78 and an 80. GM actually made a diesel Chevette.

Looking back it is hard to imagine how the Big 3 became THAT complacent to produce such garbage.

These were my 80's Honda. Technically the first one is a 1979 model. It was the coolest car to drive. Had a 4 speed manual and came in "copper". My dad shit in his pants when he found out how much I paid for it. The second Honda was 1986. More utilitarian. Got great mileage.

I loved the 80's honda accords. I had a 82, 83 and 88. they were good cars. they got great gas mileage.

Actually, Mitsubishi made it. Eagle just slapped a badge on it.

To be honest I'm actually unfamiliar with the details in particular, but you mentioning Eagle, Chrysler, and Mitsubishi as partners reminded me of Eagle Talon, Plymouth Laser, and Mitsubishi Eclipse from DSM.

I see your crappy cars and raise you....

the Chevette:

My Dad had one of those for a while, as his going-to-work car. For a kid it wasn't a bad car, but I don't remember my Mom EVER being in that car. She drove the Tempo:
