One of the simple joys of having children is that you get to pull all the pranks they've never seen before on them for the first time.

I just had my youngest, 10, make a fist with her thumb inside, to protect her thumb I said, and punch me in the arm as hard as she could. She was very enthusiastic about getting a free punch in, and hit fairly hard, and then yelped when it hurt her thumb. Lol!

Then she ran upstairs to play the trick on her older sister, who'd already knew it of course, and, while I'm not sure exactly how it all played out, I heard her yelp again and her older sister came downstairs laughing.

It was all in fun and nobody is traumatized for life or anything. But she's is trying to figure out how she can use the new trick on her friends at school.

tbh if you punch correctly it won't really matter where your thumb is, as the force of the punch will be on the 2 knuckles, in line with the rest of the bone in your arm.

but not punching correctly, in addition to having the thumb inside the fist, can break your thumb. just a thought.

Well, we've been lucky so far and no injuries. Sometimes you just have to accept little risks in life or stop living it.

My wife got my oldest son good when he was about eight. He was very protective of his 3 year old little sister back then. We were at the beach and my wife had brought along some kind of low fat chocolate cookies that looked exactly like dog poo.

She gave one to our daughter and told her to show it to her big brother, tell him she just found it on the sand and then quickly eat it. He just about shit in his bathing suit trying to stop her from munching what he thought was a turd. We laughed and laughed and still teases him about it.

Whenever we tell that story at gatherings, my son, now almost 20, tells the story about how I caught my boot on fire while camping. Then it's his turn to laugh, so it goes both ways in our family.
