That was a great resource to look up song titles, albums, labels, songwriters, publishing info, etc. :( I never bought anything from there, but damn I used it just about every day. :( Damn. It redirects to Amazon now, which has no info about albums other than track listings.

dc

I use their site to seek for track info too.

what more do you need than track info?

Well nothing if all you're doing is trying to d/l a full album. But I liked to know songwriting credits, production credits, it also told you the exact release dates, who played on the album, it usu. had a CMJ review, you could search by label, title, artist, it was easy to locate a song off a compilation or whatever. Plus a lot of other things I can't even remember right now, but I used it a ton.

allmusic.com is still pretty good, but I'm still going to miss the cdnow format though.

With the wait, shipping cost, price not much cheaper than B&M ?
Every tuesday, B&M store would sell CD for pretty good price (between $9.99 to $12.99) and you can get it right then.

Too bad for them, I actually use their site like everybody else, for resources :)

I would order used CDs online because the local stores sometimes won't have what I'm looking for. Last time I ordered, with shipping it ended up about the same price as they would have cost me at a local store. 2.99-3.99 for the CD plus a few bucks for shipping. Not too bad.

But what site has sound bites so you can check to see if it's a song you'd like? I sometimes hear a bit of a song on the radio and catch the song title or maybe just the artist name and I used to use CDNow's sound bites to figure out which one it was. :(

Ah.... Barnes and Noble's site does (at least for some of the tracks).

RIP CDNow.com

I vividly recall the good 'ole days of buying through eBates.com for 3%, using their generous coupons, combine with free shipping AND GiftCertificates.com get $25 free with $100 purchase.

I must have bought at least 30 DVDs from CDNow.com

This is a sad day.

Same here, not to mention all the cool features the site offered.....

Amazon also handles the on-line book sales for Borders.

That's weak. Although I live very close to their HQ. Wonder if there will be an auction?
hmmm....
If you're talking about the cream colored building along the Pennsylvania Turnpike between 476 and 309, then I've been by that site quite a few times.

The best place to buy CD's on line is Half.com.

Create new account ---> Use $5 off $10 coupon ---> Don't Repeat Because That Is Fraud :(

Although that obviously boils down to fraud, don't you think they'd become curious when your address is registered 47 times?

Agreed.....

Amazon's interface is pretty crappy, if they would have stuck with CDnow's formant it wouldn?t be quite as bad.
