Ah crap, the A/C isn't working.

Ok, so the power just flickered on and off a couple times, and now the A/C isn't blowing cold air anymore. The fans are running in both units (condenser and the indoor unit), but air coming out of the vent isn't cool. This happened once before when the power went off, but turning the A/C off and on again fixed it. I'm in FL and it's getting really hot in here, and there's no one to call on a Sunday. Argh.

Done, about three times. Still warm air :(
Not sure what a power fluctuation could have done, I hope it didn't fry something.

Sounds like an open fuse on one of the compressor legs.

What happens when the power flickers is the compressor rotor speed drops low enough where sufficient torque is not available and it stalls. It will draw locked rotor amps (LRA) until the overcurrent device usually a Klixxon snap disc - opens. Sometimes the LRA is enough to open a fuse. Sometimes the Klixxon fails.

Time to break out the multimeter and track it down. :)

EDIT: You live in FLA and have no TDR installed?

For fifteen minutes ?

When the air is either shut off or power is lost, the low side of the ac unit will over pressurise, this trips a safety switch, waiting before switching it back on will allow the pressure to stabilise throughout the system, WAIT.

Yeah, I turned it off for about 30 minutes before trying again. It's been off for another 30, I'll try one more time in a little bit. *crosses fingers*

Ugh... people are always talking about how Florida is great because of the weather, but everytime I've been there it's either so humid you can't even breathe without an oxygen mask or there's been a hurricane and there's no power (West Palm Beach last year). Now it's April 2 and so hot there you need an air conditioner.

Vortex you seem like a young dude, get out while you still can!

Haha. It's actually not humid at all right now... fire warnings and all because it's so dry. It usually is terribly humid during the summer though, we just haven't gotten rain for a while. And I would love to go out but I have a bunch of stuff to do for classes tomorrow :p
