He's going to be away for 3 hours and thats all I got to transfer 7.28GB of his files to my computer then reformat his then put it back, but I can't get them to see each other. The WORKGROUP name is the same, but what else is holding me back?

Are they connected via a hub or just direct? Remember, you need a crossover cable for direct connections. Also make sure that file is enabled.

They're connected through a switch. I pinged each other them, and they recognize each other, but i still can't see em.

Sometimes the computers do not always broadast. To get around this, find the computer name you want to get the files from, then simply go to "start>search>find computer>" type in the name and walla! 🙂. Verify that you have the correct protocals as well. Good luck.

I would install NetBeui on both computers, and then do this:

If the first computer is named JOE and the second is named BOB, and you want to access JOE from BOB, from BOB's RUN menu (Start Button -> RUN) type:

\\joe

And that should bring up a list of shared resources on JOE. Give it a shot!

Turn on file and print sharing through NETBUI, but leave it off for TCP/IP. Go into each drive/resource and share it one at a time. Until you share a resource then the computers have nothing to "see".
