Agrhhhh how do i disable WINDOWS MESSENGER??

Iv try it all.

1) Unninstalled it from the add/remove program...didnt work
2) tap msconfig in the run menu to disable it so it dont load when i start my internet connection....doesnt work.

help! lol

You still see the icon in the bottom right? Open it up, canceling the wizard then goto File, preferences (i think thats the step) then uncheck the boxes..
Edit: Yes this assumes you don't mean the messenger service...

No.I dont see the icon in the bottom right, it just run in the background when my internet is on.

I am talking about WINDOWS MESSENGER and not MSN Messenger.I want msn messenger to boot when i want it to be on....but windows messenger log me on without my permission..and its what i dont like.

you have to disable the thing to start in the programs that use it like Outlook Express, and also stop messenger service in the services (under control panel administrative tools)

Windows messenger is a compatible knockoff of MSN messenger that shipped with XP SP0. I have instructions for disabling it... Somewhere.

Its ok hevnsnt show me a link on how to disable it and it really work.I log my MSN messenger and i dont see the screen of windows messenger popping telleing me it is going off.

the windows "mesenger service" is the 'net sends' thing
windows messenger is a version of MSN messenger that comes preinstalled on some XP (or all? not sure) that likes to always exist like outlook express. i think he is trying to get rid of that windows messenger (like MSn messenger "lite" sorta) thing

they are 3 seperate things, but since 2 of these 3 things have almost the same name, they are easily confused

Wait, this made me *more* confused. What are you trying to do?

Kill A) The Windows Messenger Service? Which is used by some applications and on some networks, but also used to transmit ads to your computers on a broadband connection?
B) The MSN Messenger program, the IM chat client that lets you talk to other MSN users, but also starts up on certain MSN sites, when you reboot Windows, and with certain programs. (Outlook, etc.)

There are TWO versions of MSN messenger. One bundled with Windows, called "Windows Messenger", and the NORMAL one, called MSN Messenger.

The featuresets are slightly different, MSN Messenger is the superior of the two. Microsoft named it such to confuse us. It has NO RELATIONSHIP to the Messenger Service (which is NOT called Windows Messenger service, it's proper name is actually SMB Messenger)

It appears that Windows Messenger was removed from SP1 and SP2 Windows slipstream releases, and never existed in certain OEM releases (OEM Pro, specifically, though it did exist in Home and, for some retarded reason, VLK) which is why many people are completely unfamiliar with it.
