what am i planning ... all the way *past* Quad Core Barcelona with X-fired r660s

--with 4 HDs in RAID and the usual excessive *stuff* 😛

what hype? ... i think 850w is sufficient but not overkill for my plan ... and my OCZ is *really quiet* ... $185 is not a lot which also gets me an *exchange* warranty service for 3 years.

--and your 500w seasonic might be OK if you are not a big OCer nor plan to upgrade to SLI

i just wanted something over 'minimum'

IF your PS does fail ... you suffer 😉
-i prefer to err on the side of caution

never had a psu fail thankfully but i just checked the ol' kill a watt and loaded i'm pulling 360w from the wall with my printer, lcd a few usb etc.

at ~ 85% efficiency, my components are only using ~ 300w.

if r660 will need less power than r600(when it finally arrives), i just don't see you needing anywhere near 850w.

i'm not a huge oc'er but from your sig, neither are you.
