AGP vs PCI

I bought a ATI Radeon 8500 PCI with 64MB Video Card. I haven't opened it yet. I plan to use it with MSI KT3 Ultra-R Motherboard. This motherboard has one AGP 2.0 4x slot & Five 32 bit PCI slots.

I was wondering if I would loose performance if I use the PCI card. Should I get an AGP 4x card instead.

I am not a real techie & don't know the difference between AGP & PCI. Pardon my ignorance, & please help me.

If it is an 8500 for the PC, it must me an AGP version. If it is a PCI model, it must be for Apple MAC's.

Yes, around 15%-20% IIRC.

Should I get an AGP 4x card instead.

That would be a wise option. Don't open the box or packaging, just return it.

well, i thought ATi didn't realease an 8500 series PCI card. He probably has a 9000.

Theres no point having a PCI card if there is a free AGP slot there to use.

Return the card and get an AGP. You will not regret it...
